British Car Day at Larz Anderson almost never disappoints (in my opinion), and there was a pretty wide variety of cars. Here’s a few of my favorites after the break, and I’ll be posting more over the next few days.
Despite a breakdown on the way, we made it to the show late in the afternoon. It was a heavily overcast day, which you can probably tell by the photos. Not exactly the best lighting I could hope for, but I was still able to get some decent shots. More after the cut (yes, I finally learned how to do a text cut!).
Here’s two short videos that I took of cars heading out to the track at the NJ Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ for the NJ Vintage Grand Prix. The second video is a little better than the first, since I had a better place to stand to take the video.
How many cars can you identify? (Hint: Check out the tags)
I’ll be posting photos from this event as well, but I have a lot of them to go through and edit. I also have another show to post about and those photos are already on my Flickr, so I’ll be posting those next.
Hooligals/BIA Day @ Precision Triumph, Pawtucket, RI 5/1/2011
This was the first ride of the season for me, and I decided to take Baby, my CB100, since it was basically ready to ride, and also because it usually gets a positive reaction wherever I bring it. It was a really nice day. The meet was small, but I got to meet some new people and check out some really cool bikes. I got to sit on the Triumph Street Triple, Daytona 675, Triumph Speed Triple, Triumph Bonneville, and Triumph Tiger. I fit well on the Street Triple, Bonneville and Daytona, but I liked the ergos on the Street Triple best. I would love to take that bike out for a spin. The Speed Triple and Tiger were a bit too tall for me.
Baby behaved herself pretty well, but unfortunately the “high” beam on my LED conversion headlight blew…again. So, it’s back to the drawing board for that. I think I’m going to end up drilling the reflector for a bunch of individually wired LEDs with individual resistors. That’s the only way I can see that I can get this headlight to work.
The BIA Bike Show wasn’t huge, though half of it was a show for the bikes, the other half was a swap meet, and there was also a band and a BBQ, and there were some great bikes present, so it was a pretty nice event. I actually snagged a bargain at the swap meet in the form of a pair of nice mirrors from a Victory motorcycle for only $20. I’m currently undecided about which bike to put them on. I rode Honeybee, my Blast there and it received an unusual amount of attention, which is something that always surprises me when it happens. Of course I didn’t enter the bike in the show; it’s not a show bike, and it’s certainly not British. Anyway, here’s some of my favorite British bikes from the show. There was an unusual number of BSAs present:
Yes, that’s a supercharger on this Commando!
Dresda Triton! I see these really, really rarely and I love Dresdas.
Sorry if I clogged up your Tumblr dash again, but I guess that’s just the way it goes =)
I’ll be posting some of the non-Brit bikes that I liked from the show this week.
